Restaraunt, US 301 and MD 305. Buy $100 of gas and get a free shower. Buy $150, and the second driver gets a shower too. Very tasty breakfast.

The Mill Tavern, Front Royal. Pan-fried T-Bone. Visitor center across the parking lot would not mention it. Locals mentioned it first thing.
The Fox Diner, Front Royal. Cozy place with local folks hanging out and talking.
The Skyland Taproom on Skyline Drive. Tasty soup, crummy sandwich. Attached to a privately run lodge which appears to be frequented by retirees who have outlived their taste buds.
Loft Mountain Wayside. Run-of-the-mill snack bar. 10 mile milk shakes.

Ham Shoppe?, Boone, NC. Gourmet ham and biscuit, across the intersection from the Black Cat. Very tasty for breakfast. The waiter went out to buy me a paper, knowing I'd leave it for him to read later. No charge!
TS Internet Cafe, Hampton, TN. You can have a yummy sandwich, check your email, and watch TV projected on the wall from a PC.
The Cranberry Thistle, Jonesborough, TN. Ideal bike food. Ziti, and pinto beans with cornbread. Good people to talk to. I slept upstairs.

F. Weigl Iron Works, Austin, TX. Famous BBQ dive, in historic foundry that made ornamental iron decorations for buildings.
Pho, Austin, TX. Another state crossed off the list in my quest to have Pho in every state. Very good pho, too. There are bobo tea shops on either side.
Eastside Cafe, Austin, TX. No picture, I forgot the camera. Terrific largely vegetarian restaraunt in an old house in a funky neighborhood. Very remeniscent of the Wild Mushroom. Had dinner with an old friend from my college co-op days.
Opie's BBQ, Spicewood, TX. Terrific BBQ joint in the middle of nowhere. All you can eat beans and pickles with your lunch! Those black things behind the pile of mesquite logs are the cookers. I walked up and asked if they were open and the cook says "let me show you what's ready."
Stonewall Pizza and Grill, Llano, TX. Friendly place, humongous portions.
Burger Bar Cafe, Llano, TX. They serve breakfast, which was tasty.
Willow Creek Cafe, Mason, TX. Novel lunch special "Chicken Fried Chicken". The building has a cast iron facade!

Rancher's Grill, El Paso, TX. In the Wal-Mart parking lot a short walk from my motel. Disappointing.
Village Inn, El Paso, TX. A local chain, this one was across the street from the hotel. All menu choices are illustrated. Excellent breakfast. A big winner.
Way Out West Restaraunt and Brewing Co., La Mesilla, NM. Not actually a brewery, but great nonetheless. La Mesilla is a swanky suburb of Las Cruces. Way Out West has excellent New Mexico food (i.e. smothered in green chilis) and microbrews.
B&E Burritos, Hatch, NM. For breakfast, this place is just three generations of the Mexican-American family that owns it sitting around and shooting the breeze. "We can fix you up something, sure. Where are you going on that bike?"
Hillsboro General Store and Cafe, Hillsboro, New Mexico. Cafe in quaint historic mining town which is now full of art galleries. Tasty burrito, smothered in green chilis, of course. "Bumbleberry" pie for dessert, which is rhubarb and various berries.
Jalisco Cafe, Silver City, New Mexico. High quality Mexican restaraunt. I had a ribeye to die for, served with enchiladas smothered in green chilis on the side.
Diane's Cafe, Silver City, New Mexico. Fettucini Alfredo, with green chilis. Really great.
Pinon Cafe, Silver City, New Mexico. My stomach absolutely refused to let me order any more green chilis. I had the gnocci, with a New Mexico chardonnay. New Mexico wine is as good as Maryland wine. This place is trying very very hard to be a fine restaraunt. It's not as good as they try to give you the impression it is.
Geronimo's Restaraunt, Silver City, New Mexico. Yummy breakfast burrito, enchilada style (smothered in green chilis) to start the day.
Grapevine Restaraunt, Lordsburg, New Mexico. Generic diner with Mexican food attached to a Super 8 Motel. I forgot to take a picture.
Rodeo Grocery and Service, Rodeo, New Mexico. Tasty breakfast at the grocery store/gas station/cafe in the tiny town of Rodeo. They informed me it was 21 degrees outside. I had just packed up the tent.
Gasden Hotel Restaraunt, Douglas, Arizona. This is the fancy hotel in the border town of Douglas. I had a burger at the lunch counter.
The Brewery Steakhouse, Bisbee, Arizona. Good ribs, local microbrews, atrocious service.
The Daily Diner, Bisbee, Arizona. Breakfast and pies. The owner bicycle tours with his dog, an Australian Shepard. The dog has a harness and helps pull up climbs.

Waffle House, Tucson, Arizona. Lunch while waiting by the airport for Jim to get in. Open mid-day on Thanksgiving, no customers, staffed entirely by teenagers.

Lagoon Saloon, Palo Verde, California. There were only hamburgers, because last weekend there was a big off-road vehicle race here and they sold all their food.
